Our original church building was a donated courthouse located near the dock of the Long Ferry over Raritan near the present east end of Lewis Street in Perth Amboy, NJ. A stone taken from the original building and bearing the date "1685" rests in the rear wall of St. Peter's current building on Rector Street.

Historic Preservation Award Our parish has been honored with a 2006 New Jersey Historic Preservation Award from the New Jersey Historic Sites Council and the Department of Environmental Protection, Historic Preservation Office. Members of our preservation team attended a ceremony held on Saturday, April 29, 2006 to receive this award. Preservation of our historic church is an ongoing commitment, and we are happy to have our efforts recognized. This truly is an award for all members of our parish, not just for those on the committee, since everyone has participated in some way, from all those who made pledges of financial support to the wardens and vestry members who were involved in planning and decision-making. This recognition is well deserved.
